Abbeydorney is a village in Ireland just north of Tralee. The name “Abbeydorney” when translated from Irish means ”Monastry of the Clan of Torna”. With 1000 or so inhabitants its most prominent historical monument is the Abbeydorney Abbey, which was founded by Chieftan O’Torna in 1154 for the Cistercians.

call ireland cheap

Probably the best way to call Ireland on the cheap is with skype or with a phone card. Generally with phone cards I find that some local knowledge helps. If you are in an Irish area in the US for example ask in a gas station what the most popular phone card is with Irish people. There are also some very good calling plans depending on your carrier so that can often be the cheapest option. population of ireland

April 9, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

The Population of Ireland is estimated to be a little over 4.2 million people [based on figures from summer 2009]. These population of Ireland figures are based on the 26 counties of the republic of Ireland, excluding the 6 counties of northern Ireland.

The whole Island of Ireland [est. 2009] has a population of about 6 million people. About 1.8 million people live in the 6 counties.

The population of Ireland is relatively young with an average age of about 35 years.

Significantly, Ireland is bucking the trend in terms of birth rate at about 14 births per 1000 people. And with a death rate of about 8 people per 1000 there is clearly a growing population in Ireland, net of immigration / emigration [2008 figures].
