Innishannon House Hotel – who decided it was the most romantic hotel in Ireland ?

Supposedly the Innishannon house hotel in Cork Ireland is the most romantic hotel in Ireland. I wonder who decided it was the most romantic hotel in Ireland. Not that I don’t think it is arguably a very romantic hotel but surely there are hoteliers in Ireland who would argue the point. The features which define its romantic credentials are the gardens which slope down onto the river bandon, and the French baroque architecture characteristic of French influence houses built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Innishannon house hotel dates from 1720 and the hotel facade is distinctly from this period.

The hotel is very popular as a wedding venue and also has its fair share of communion and confirmation lunches. Its also well known for Sunday family lunches.  There are two function rooms, the frankfurt suite and the larger riverside suite which can accommodate 170 guests. The aspect of this grand room is its view over the gardens, the rose garden and the river bandon.
